SANITARIAN / HEALTH AGENT
The Town of Wayland seeks applicants for the position of Sanitarian / Health Agent. Inspection and technical work in the enforcement and interpretation of applicable Town regulations and State codes relating to sanitation, public health and environmental health. Wayland is a community that is primarily subsurface sewage disposal systems. Experience with Title 5, including soil evaluations, plan reviews, and installation inspections, is a plus. Qualifications: BS in Public Health or a related field with emphasis on environmental health. Over two (2) years of technical or professional experience in the field of environmental Sanitation or health inspection. Must possess a valid driver’s license and registration as a Sanitarian by the MA Board of Registration of Sanitarians. Salary:

SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST
Wayland seeks qualified applicants for a Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist position, to work an average of 30 hours per week, likely more during the school year and less during summer months. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Family Services, the Specialist would be responsible for extending and enhancing the community level prevention work accomplished under a previous DFC grant, including the leadership and promotion of the community prevention coalition. The specialist would utilize evidence-based prevention practices in developing, leading, directing, and evaluating programming and educational materials for children, adolescents, parents, and other community residents. He/she will coordinate programs with internal and external partners such as the Wayland
Police, Health and School Departments, Wayland HS SADD Club, Wayland Youth and Family Services, the School PTOs, the Wayland Clergy and Business Associations, Wayland municipal leaders and other vested community contacts. The Specialist will identify, write, and submit funding grants; oversee the application of awarded funds; and ensure compliance with awarded funds.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in social work, public health or a related field; Master's Degree in social work, public health, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in social services with a focus on substance abuse prevention; foundation and government grant experience preferable.
