Recreation Director
Wayland seeks qualified applicants for the position of Recreation Director. Working under the direction of a Recreation Commission and the Town Administrator, is responsible for planning, directing, and managing comprehensive rec programs; evaluating program effectiveness; overseeing strategic planning for recreational facilities; providing input and coordinating field and facility preparation; overseeing day-to-day admin operations of the department. Supervises staff and seasonal employees. Frequent contact with the vendors and residents.  Five (5) years of related experience, three (3) years in a supervisory role. BS in a related field.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  CPRP or CPRE certification is desirable. Wages: $64,276 - $83,866.  Competitive benefits package. Police Chief
Seek a progressive, energetic and dynamic individual to join its management team.  Serving as the Police Chief in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 97A, the Chief will lead a department of 22 Officers serving a primarily residential community west of Boston.  The successful candidate will possess a clear vision for the future of the department, demonstrable leadership skills, excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with all members of the community.  Duties include directing all departmental operations; developing and implementing rules, policies and procedures; developing and implementing training programs; interfacing with a wide variety of contacts; administering to department personnel and participating in labor negotiations.  Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice or a related field of endeavor.  Master’s Degree in criminal justice, public administration or related field or a juris doctorate preferred.  Over eight (8) years’ experience in law enforcement of which at least five (5) years has been in a command capacity at the rank of Lieutenant or higher.  F.B.I. National Academy or advanced LEEDS training preferred.  Licenses/Certificates:  Must possess a valid driver’s license; must have completed a basic police recruit academy which has been certified or is certifiable by the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council.  Salary:  $102,580-$133,845 with comprehensive benefits package.  Qualified candidates should send cover letters and resumes to John Senchyshyn, Asst. Fire Department - Firefighter List
The Wayland Fire Department seeks qualified applicants to establish a list for full-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions. The successful candidates will work a rotating 24 hour shifts that will result in an average 42 hour week over an eight week cycle. Applicants must possess a High School diploma, a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a valid Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician’s License. A Fire Science degree is preferred.  Candidates will be considered in the following order, those: 1) possessing a current Massachusetts Paramedic certification and having graduated the fulltime Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Program; 2) possessing a current Massachusetts Paramedic certification, and as a condition of employment, will need to complete the fulltime Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit program within one year of hire; 3) be enrolled in a Paramedic Program to be complete within one year of hire, be certified to the Paramedic level, and as a condition of employment, will need to complete the fulltime Massachusetts Firefighting Academy program within one year of hire; 4) possess a basic EMT certification, complete the fulltime Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit program within one year of hire and be certified as a Paramedic within 2 years following the current collective bargaining agreement process.  Compensation range, inclusive of base wages and paramedic stipend: $57,664 to $62,441 with comprehensive benefits package. Library - Head of Circulation
Manages the business of the Circulation Department and supervises personnel in conducting circulation activities in accordance with the policies of the Board of Trustees and the Minuteman Library Network.  Manages materials to facilitate the circulation of library materials to users; acts as a liaison between public and library administration.  Occasionally required to lift, carry or push items and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; kneel, bend, stoop, crouch and twist.  Bachelor’s Degree, liberal arts background; MS Degree in Library Science preferred.   Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a public library circulation department, including work with automated circulation system.  Salary range $ 47,848 - $ 62,408 Apply to: John Senchyshyn, Assistant Town Administrator / Human Resources Director, Town of Wayland, 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778. Library - Assistant Children's Librarian

2017 Seasonal Opportunty - Conservation
Wayland Conservation is looking for a seasonal laborer(s) to perform and assist with a variety of duties in connection with conservation land management and maintenance work including, but not limited to, mowing of conservation fields, cutting grass, raking leaves, watering, invasive plant removal trail maintenance, light chainsaw work and perform other related duties as required.  Ability to follow oral and written instructions; work in a team setting; exercise sound judgment.  Invasive Plant knowledge helpful/desirable but not necessary. DPW Heavy Equipment Operator – Transfer Station PT
Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled manual work associated with the maintenance, repair and operation of the Transfer Station. Minimum entrance requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least three (3) years of related experience in public works of which at least 1 year required in the operation of heavy equipment. Waste management experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates:  Must have and maintain a valid Class B CDL license; Class A, CDL preferred. Must have and maintain a valid Class 2B Hoisting License; 2A Hoisting License preferred. Salary range: $20.24 – 24.83/hour, 17 – 19 hours a week. Schedule: Tuesdays 8am-4pm & Saturdays 7am-4pm and extra hours available to cover shifts.
