                                                                                                  PUBLIC BUILDINGS DIRECTOR

Wayland seeks qualified applicants for a Public Buildings Director.  Reporting to the Town Administrator, is responsible for planning, directing, managing and overseeing the building construction, remodeling, maintenance and custodial operations of all Town and School Buildings. Advises oversight boards and committees on design, construction and renovations of all buildings; may serve as the Clerk of the Works on building projects; prepares and recommends operating and capital budgets; tracks and reviews related departmental expenses, including, but not limited to, capital outlay, materials, equipment, maintenance programs and personnel expenditures. Responsible for the procurement of related materials, equipment and supplies; prepares specs, reviews and, where authorized, awards service and maintenance contracts; oversees all contracted services for adherence to specs and completeness. Directs, leads, motivates, staffs, schedules, and provides overall supervision and training for departmental personnel; serves as member of negotiating team for purpose of collective bargaining. Responds to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis. Qualifications: BS in engineering, construction, facilities management or related field, 7 years experience of which at least 3 years is in management/supervisory position (substitutions will be considered). Must have a working knowledge of building construction techniques, HVAC, alarms, security, utilities and state procurement laws. Salary: $82,186 – $107.234. The Town of Wayland seeks applicants for the position of Sanitarian / Health Agent. Inspection and technical work in the enforcement and interpretation of applicable Town regulations and State codes relating to sanitation, public health and environmental health.  Qualifications: BS in Public Health or a related field with emphasis on environmental health. Over two (2) years of technical or professional experience in the field of environmental Sanitation or health inspection.                                                                            SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Wayland seeks qualified applicants for a Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist position, to work an average of 21 hours per week, likely more during the school year and less during summer months. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Family Services, the Specialist would be responsible for extending and enhancing the community level prevention work accomplished under a previous DFC grant, including the leadership and promotion of the community prevention coalition. The specialist would utilize evidence-based prevention practices in developing, leading, directing, and evaluating programming and educational materials for children, adolescents, parents, and other community residents. He/she will coordinate programs with internal and external partners such as the Wayland Police, Health and School Departments, Wayland HS SADD Club, Wayland Youth and Family Services, the School PTOs, the Wayland Clergy and Business Associations, Wayland municipal leaders and other vested community contacts. The Specialist will identify, write, and submit funding grants; oversee the application of awarded funds; and ensure compliance with awarded funds.
Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in social work, public health or a related field; Master's Degree in social work, public health, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in social services with a focus on substance abuse prevention; foundation and government grant experience preferable.

                                                        Library Assistant – Circulation – 29 Hours

Working in the Circulation Department of a busy, medium-sized public library, performs various tasks relating to the circulation of library materials.  Assists in the processing of network transfer materials; assists in coordinating the work of clerks, pages, and volunteers; assists in maintaining online library events calendar; produces flyers, posters, bookmarks, and notices for library events. Maintains various bulletin boards in the library. Participates in planning and publicizing community events and programs.  Is responsible for the library’s museum pass program and online pass reservation system.  Some Saturday and evening hours are required. Minimum qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree, courses in library science desirable; at least 1 year of experience working in a library setting or working in a clerical, secretarial, record keeping or related field; experience creating informational notices, flyers and posters; and ability to interact with the public with patience and tact. Hourly wages: $19.95-$26.03 per hour, plus benefits.
