Local Building Inspector
Enforces and interprets the provisions of 271, 521 and 780 CMRs – Massachusetts State Building Code, the provisions of MGL Ch. 40A and 40B, Town of Wayland By-laws and Zoning By-laws, and all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations; assists in the general administration of the Building Department. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, plans, specifications, engineering calculations, terminology and mathematical concepts. This position requires frequent light to moderate physical effort while performing inspections; must be able to access all area and levels of a construction site. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the supervision of building construction or design, or a two year associate degree in a field related to building construction or design. Must be
certified by BBRS and maintain 45 hours of continuing education credit every 3 years. Wayland is seeking a full-time Library Director for the Wayland Free Public Library. The position exercises a high degree of leadership and independent initiative in planning and developing goals and objectives while carrying out policies of the Board of Library Trustees. Trustees have submitted a grant application to the Massachusetts Public library Construction Program for the current grant round. Director will administer and recommend policies and programs while complying with state and federal laws. Responsible for supervising the activities of all professional and non-professional full-time and part-time library staff. Manages, hires, and terminates library personnel consistent with town policy and collective bargaining agreements. Prepares library annual budget and manages accounts and other sources of revenue. Responsible for
necessary repairs, safety procedures, and cleanliness of facility. Attends all Board of Library Trustee meetings, represents the library at Town and departmental meetings. The Director will conduct a public relations program to promote the library's role in the community. Fire Department - Firefighter List
The Wayland Fire Department seeks qualified applicants to establish a list for full-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions. The successful candidates will work a rotating 24 hour shifts that will result in an average 42 hour week over an eight week cycle. Applicants must possess a High School diploma, a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a valid Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician’s License. A Fire Science degree is preferred. DPW Heavy Equipment Operator – Transfer Station PT
Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled manual work associated with the maintenance, repair and operation of the Transfer Station. Minimum entrance requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least three (3) years of related experience in public works of which at least 1 year required in the operation of heavy equipment.
