Responsible and complex secretarial, clerical, and administrative work in assisting the Assistant Town Administrator/HR Director in accomplishing the goals, objectives and functions of the office; office management work related to the accounting and the administrative work of the department; all other related work as required. Over three years of administrative experience in a human resources related functions; experience in the administration of an automated HRIS database preferred; experience in a municipal or a government setting a plus. Wayland seeks qualified applicants for the position of DPW Director. Working under the direction of a Board of Public Works and the Town Administrator, the Director is responsible for planning, directing and administrating all DPW activities to include highways & bridges, parks maintenance, cemeteries, water treatment & distribution, snow & ice operations, fleet maintenance and transfer station operations. Works collaboratively with other Town departments and boards. Develops and makes recommendations for operating and capital budgets. Directs all staff and contracted services. 10 years of broad based related exp; 5 years of experience in a management role. Municipal exp. preferred. BS in civil engineering or a related field. Additional years of relevant exp may be substituted for a degree. PE highly preferable.

DPW Heavy Equipment Operator – Transfer Station PT
Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled manual work associated with the maintenance, repair and operation of the Transfer Station. Minimum entrance requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least three (3) years of related experience in public works of which at least 1 year required in the operation of heavy equipment. Waste management experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates: Must have and maintain a valid Class B CDL license; Class A, CDL preferred. Must have and maintain a valid Class 2B Hoisting License; 2A Hoisting License preferred. Salary range: $20.24 – 24.83/hour, 17 – 19 hours a week.
