Performs, technical, supervisory and administrative work coordinating the activities of the Conservation Commission and land management functions. Advises and provides guidance to the public about the applicability of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act in conjunction with land development; administers the Wetlands and Stormwater By-laws; determines wetland resource area boundaries associated with particular property. Manages in excess of 800 acres of conservation, garden and farm land. Advises the Conservation Commission of the impacts of particular proposals on the Town's natural resources, in particular the wetland resource areas. Attends meetings of the Conservation Commission, on behalf of the Commission, with other Town departments, with State and local conservation organizations. Working knowledge of federal and State
laws, including the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act and associated guidelines and regulations applicable to the jurisdiction of the Conservation Commission are essential. Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resources field, or related field required. Additional 4 years of related experience may be substituted for degree. Minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental management, land conservation or related field. Driver's License is required. Salary: $65,951-$87,669. Wayland seeks an Assistant Assessor to perform routine to complex technical work involved in appraising and examining all types of real property for assessment purposes to Mass Appraisal Standards using technical judgment and knowledge of state and local laws, regulations and guidelines and the policies of the Board of Assessors. The Assistant works under the general direction of the Assessing Director. Associates Degree in a related field required, or 2 years of experience may be substituted. Over two (2) years of experience in assessing, appraisal or real estate work; or any equivalent combination of education or experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; experience in a municipal setting and working with the public is strongly preferred. Must obtain a Massachusetts Association of
