Wayland, MA (14,000 pop.), seeking creative, proactive, community leader to serve as next Town Administrator.  Five member Board of Selectmen; open town meeting form of government; fiscally stable community, recognized for excellent schools, civic engagement, and quality of life.  Town Administrator, with assistance of Assistant Town Administrator, oversees operating budget of $72M and 164 Town FTEs.   Successful candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in related field (Master’s preferred); minimum of seven years of experience in public administration; with minimum of five years in senior management capacity or equivalent combination of education and business management experience.  Salary range competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Equal opportunity employer.  Additional information, contact Alan Gould, Municipal Resources at 603-279-0352, x-304.

PUBLIC BUILDINGS DIRECTOR

Wayland seeks qualified applicants for a Public Buildings Director.  Reporting to the Town Administrator, is responsible for planning, directing, managing and overseeing the building construction, remodeling, maintenance and custodial operations of all Town and School Buildings. Advises oversight boards and committees on design, construction and renovations of all buildings; may serve as the Clerk of the Works on building projects; prepares and recommends operating and capital budgets; tracks and reviews related departmental expenses, including, but not limited to, capital outlay, materials, equipment, maintenance programs and personnel expenditures. Responsible for the procurement of related materials, equipment and supplies; prepares specs, reviews and, where authorized, awards service and maintenance contracts; oversees all contracted services for adherence to specs and completeness. Directs, leads, motivates, staffs, schedules, and provides overall supervision and training for departmental personnel; serves as member of negotiating team for purpose of collective bargaining. Responds to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis. Qualifications: BS in engineering, construction, facilities management or related field, 7 years experience of which at least 3 years is in management/supervisory position (substitutions will be considered). Must have a working knowledge of building construction techniques, HVAC, alarms, security, utilities and state procurement laws. Salary: $81,372 – $106,172.
