The Town of Wayland seeks applicants for the full-time position of Building Commissioner. Reporting to the Town Administrator, performs professional, administrative, supervisory, technical and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of the Massachusetts State building code, provisions of M.G.L. Chapters 40A and 40B, Town of Wayland By-laws and Zoning Bylaw ; enforces all provisions of the State Building Code and all other applicable statutes, rules and regulations of the By-laws; reviews all plans and specifications involved in the issuance of building permits and certificates; reviews all plans and specifications for compliance with local zoning bylaws; inspects all work for compliance with approved plans; oversees all administrative functions; directs the
daily operations of the Building Department. In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 143 Section 3, Candidates will possess 5 years of experience in the supervision of building construction or design, possess Massachusetts Certification as Building Commissioner Inspector of Buildings and obtain Massachusetts certification as a Local Building Inspector prior to appointment.
