Effective immediately, The Water Division is ending the restrictions placed on outdoor water usage.

The Massachusetts Drought Task Force reports that all drought indicators currently show normal or mostly normal conditions in all drought regions. As a result, the Wayland Water Division is ending water usage restrictions, effective immediately.

State agencies continue to intensely monitor and assess the drought situation and environmental and agricultural impacts.

The state asks the public to be mindful of the amount of water they are using, and to eliminate or greatly reduce outdoor water use to ensure essential needs such as drinking water, fire protection, and crop hydration are being met.

The Board of Public Works voted to increase the Fiscal Year 2018 rates for water usage on July 12, 2017.  The following table presents the rates before and after the rate change.

Old Rates
(per 100 cubic feet)
New Rates
(July 1, 2017)
Tier 1 (0 to 15 Ccf)
$          5.15
$          5.36
Tier 2 (15 to 30 Ccf)
$          6.67
$          7.00
Tier 3 (30 to 80 Ccf)
$          7.63
$          8.09
Tier 4 (> 80 Ccf)
$         12.63
$         13.51

Tier 1 (0 to 7.5 Ccf)
$          5.15
$          5.36
Tier 2 (7.5 to 30 Ccf)
$          6.67
$          7.00
Tier 3 (30 to 100 Ccf)
$          7.63
$          8.09
Tier 4 (> 100 Ccf)
$         12.63
$         13.51

These rates go into effect as of July 1, 2017.  As every water bill represents a portion of water use before the rate change and a portion after the rate change, the actual water rate charged will be prorated until the billed usage is entirely after the effective date of the rate change.   For instance a residential bill that is derived from usage between April 1st and October 1st of 2017 would have the half usage charged at the old rate and the other half of the usage at the new rate.  The rates that are charged on the water bill will be prorated between the two rates.
