COVID-19 Updates and Information
What you need to know about COVID-19

Our individual health, and that of our loved ones, is improved when our collective health is attended to!
To find a vaccine appointment, please visit www.wayland.ma.us/vaccine
To receive free test kits from the federal government, please visit www.covid.gov/tests or see below.

  1. Please stay home when you are sick: Follow workplace or school protocols to report absences. Call your doctor or child's pediatrician for medical advice. Follow this COVID-19 Guidance for the General Population from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Follow this guidance on COVID-19 for K-12 schools from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Department of Early and Secondary Education (DESE).
  2. Test for COVID-19 if you are symptomatic. When COVID-19 case rates in the community ride, the likelihood of your symptoms being from a COVID-19 infection also increase. To slow the spread of the virus please test if you have symptoms. This guidance has not changed since October 31, 2022. For your convenience we have free COVID-19 home antigen tests at the Health Department at the Town Building while supplies last. Beginning September 25, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. Click here to order,  Need help placing an order for your at-home tests? Call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). Before You Throw Out "Expired" Tests: Check FDA's website to see if your COVID-19 tests' expiration dates have been extended. Tests are also available for purchase at most pharmacies. It's a good idea to keep a few on hand at home.
  3. If you test positive or are notified of an exposure: Follow this COVID-19 Guidance for the General Population. If you test positive you are responsible for notifying your own close contacts (people who you were with, indoors and unmasked, in the 48 hours before your symptoms started or you first had a positive test.)
  4. Keep masks on hand and wear them as needed: Learn more here. Free masks remain available at the Wayland Town Building vestibule, 41 Cochituate Road, in the front lobby 24 hours/day, 7 days/ week, while supplies last, and at the Health Department during business hours.
  5. Vaccinations: Stay up to date on all your vaccinations, including those against COVID-19 and seasonal influenza (flu). Learn about Wayland flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics here. We expect information about an updated COVID-19 booster in mid-September.
  6. Wash your hands: Wash your hands often and with vigor under warm running water, especially before eating, cooking, and after using the bathroom.
  7. Seek Treatment: Over aged 50, live in congregate care (nursing home or long term care facility, or assisted living), or have an underlying medical condition? Talk to your doctor about treatment options for both COVID-19 and flu.
  8. Air Ventilation: Improve your air ventilation at home. Learn more about air exchanges in public buildings here.
