Except in an emergency (see Open Meeting Law chapter 39, section 23B), a notice of every meeting of any governmental body shall be filed with the Town Clerk at least forty-eight (48) hours, including Saturdays but not Sundays and legal holidays, prior to such meeting, be publicly posted in the office of such clerk or on the principal official bulletin board of such town. If a Board, Department, Committee or Commission meets on a regular basis, you may file a "one-year blanket notice" with the Town Clerk's Office (January 1st thru December 31st). The meeting will be automatically posted. If a meeting falls on a holiday, there is a change in the date, time or place or the meeting is cancelled, please contact the Town Clerk's Office in advance of said date of the meeting so that the records can be changed. If you do not meet on a regular basis, it is the responsibility of each Board, Department, Committee or Commission to contact the Town Clerk's Office to post a meeting. The Town Clerk's Office is notified on short notice of cancellations and additions to the meeting schedule; therefore, there may be changes or cancellations. Additional meetings may be listed after this notice was posted. For further information, check with the Town Clerk's Office.
