Over 100 members of the community participated in Our Wayland’s first “Community Conversations” event Sunday night! We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our conversation, the Town Administrator’s Racial Justice Advisory Group for organizing the event, and we would like to give a special thanks to Russell Ashton and Officer DaLonn Pearson for sharing their incredible and inspirational stories!

The Racial Justice Advisory Group will be planning more events as part of its “Community Conversations” series. We hope you will join us in the future as we continue to discuss diversity, equity, and unity in Wayland.

The Town of Wayland’s Racial Justice Advisory Committee looks forward to hosting the first event of its “Community Conversations” series on Sunday, February 28th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

In celebration of Black History Month, we will be hosting a virtual discussion about the history of Black History Month with Wayland resident Russell Ashton. It will also feature Officer DaLonn Pearson from the Wayland Police Department as he shares his “My Journey to Wayland”, a personal account of his experience as the second African-American police officer in the Town of Wayland. A question and answer period and small group discussion will follow.

This event is free to the public and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. Registration opens Feb 17, 2021.
