Wayland Youth Field Hockey

WHS Stadium Turf

Field Hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and we are excited to introduce our new Wayland Youth Field Hockey programs!

First introduced in the spring of 2022, we now offer instructional programs, a summer clinic and a travel league coming this fall, thanks to our founding members: Coach Lauren, Coach Mia, and Coach Danielle.

For players in Grades 2 to Grade 8. Whether your player is a beginner who wants to develop fundamental skills or is a player who is ready to practice and compete. Emphasis is always on fair play and skill development in a fun and safe environment.  Programs will focus on fun, teamwork, good sportsmanship and self confidence.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Field Hockey Stick, Goggles, Mouth Guard, Shin Guards, Cleats / Turf Shoes
(if you do not have a stick please contact the Rec Dept to loan one)

What size stick? There is not an exact science when it comes to choosing the correct length of a field hockey stick. Players have different preferences based on their level of play and what feels best to them. The most common method by which a stick can be chosen is based on a height chart.
