Posted 6/4/18: NOTICE OF TOWN CONTRACTOR REVIEWING PROPERTIES IN WAYLAND:
Vision Government Solutions, Inc. (Vision) of Hudson, MA is under contract with the Wayland Board of Assessors for the Fiscal Year 2019 “certification” process mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. As such, Vision staff will be driving by about 150 residential properties that sold in 2017, as well as several commercial properties, at various times during June, July and August. Please note that these are “drive-by” inspections, so there will be no physical inspections of any properties. Vision personnel will notify the Assessors’ Office and the Wayland Police Department of their vehicle information, the days they will be in town, and will carry their official Vision IDs. They will also have a letter with them from the Assessors’ Office. Thanks for your understanding.
Posted April 2018: ONGOING PROPERTY INSPECTION PROGRAM:
By state mandate, the Board of Assessors is required to attempt an inspection of all properties at least once every 10 years. This is accomplished through a cyclical property inspection program. During the next few months, employees of the Wayland Assessors’ Office will be visiting properties that are due to have an inspection.
In addition, assessors are required to inspect properties with recently completed alterations, additions or improvements. If your home has had building permit activity ongoing or recently completed, you should expect a visit by an assessor within the next few months.
The assessor will ask to do a full interior and exterior inspection in order to verify the accuracy of assessing records. At the least, an exterior inspection and front and rear photos are planned for all properties. A door hangar will be left if there is no answer at the door. Inspections generally take only about 10-15 minutes. If you prefer, you are invited to contact our office to schedule an appointment for an inspection.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Assessors’ Office at 508-358-3788.
