Middle School Fields Projects

There are two appropriations approved to begin to review the potential for fields at the Middle School.

2021 Annual Town Meeting | Article 29: CPA – Recreation: Atheltic Fields Design (May 15, 2021)

Proposed by: Community Preservation Committee, Recreation Commission
Cost: $50,000

Motion: Kelly S. Pierce of Cameron Road, and member of the Community Preservation Committee, moved that the Town vote to appropriate the following sums of money: b) $50,000 from the Community Preservation Fund’s Uncommitted Fund for Recreational Use, to be expended under the direction of the Recreation Commission, for the design of playing fields and appurtenances at the Wayland Middle School, 201 Main Street, including all incidental and related expenses. (Approved 143-2)

2021 Special Town Meeting | Article 3. Feasibility Study for a Grass Field at 195/207 Main Street (October 3, 2021)

Proposed by: Board of Selectmen
Cost: $50,000 | $1,000 from Recreation Operating Fund and $49,000 from Recreation Field Revolving Account

Motion: Carol B. Martin, of Lake Road and member of the Board of Selectmen moved that the Town vote to appropriate a sum of money, not to exceed $1,000, by repurposing funds from the balance remaining from previously appropriated funds authorized under Article 10 of the 2021 Annual Town Meeting, to be expended under the direction of the Wayland Board of Selectmen for a feasibility study for a multi-purpose, natural grass athletic playing field at 195 and 207 Main Street, Wayland, Massachusetts, including, but not limited to, lighting, drainage, landscaping, recreational amenities, irrigation, access and parking areas, and any and all other costs incidental or related thereto, said funds to supplement funds authorized by the Recreation Commission to be expended from the Recreation Commission Revolving Fund for this purpose.
