About Pine Brook:

Comprised of 38.1 acres Pine Brook is a fairly easy walk through red maple swamp and mixed old growth forest.  Accessing the trail from Forty Acres Drive it traverses (.18 miles) through mixed old growth forest heading North then the trail climbs up an esker that runs .2 miles through more mostly coniferous forest to the east and a large red maple swamp to the west.  From here you will come to a footbridge the trail brings you across Pine Brook and then out to the Bennett Rd. access described below.  The trail runs .6 miles from start to finish in one direction.

Parking and Trail Access:

• There is parking at the end of Forty Acres Drive.  There is a small set of stairs where the trail begins between 50 and 54 Forty Acres Drive.  A blaze orange diamond shape Conservation trail marker placed on an Eastern white pine also marks the beginning of the trail.
• There is another trail access on the North end of the property off Bennett Rd.  From the entrance of Bennet Rd. drive/walk .13 miles then on the south side of the road there is a blaze orange conservation trail marker denoting the entrance.

Other:

• Pine Brook is an especially reliable spot for observing Rusty Blackbirds which often overwinter during mild winters.
• Late February through early April then again in late September through freeze up a decent diversity of waterfowl can reliably be found.
• There is one active Great Blue Heron nest easily seen from the footbridge looking East.
• Great Horned and Barred Owl are somewhat reliable on property.
