Committee Charge

Charge of the Public Safety Building Advisory Committee:


Resolved, that the Board of Selectmen establish a temporary advisory committee to be known as the Public Safety Building Advisory Committee. The Committee shall be comprised of three (3) members who shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Board of Selectmen, said appointments to be based on professional or vocational expertise with preference given to citizens possessing experience in any one of the following areas:  structural or civil engineering; project management; law; building design and construction; or design and installation of heating, ventilation and cooling systems. Members shall serve until December 31, 2012 or earlier project completion date at which time the committee may be dissolved.

The purpose of the committee shall be to advise the Board of Selectmen, other town boards and committees, the Town Administrator and the Public Buildings Director on all issues related to the repair and restoration of the Public Safety Building including the structural integrity of the building, restoration of the basement for dry storage; relocation of heating, ventilation and cooling systems and telecommunications systems; and restoration of elevator access.

The Public Buildings Director and Town Administrator will serve as ex-officio members of the committee without the right to vote and his/her presence shall not be counted in determining a quorum. 

The committee shall:

  1. review analysis of problem areas within the building systems prepared by engineers and building systems firms;
  2. review and comment on proposed solutions;
  3. assist Public Buildings Director in construction administration; and,
  4. report to the Board of Selectmen on the status of such projects.
