Due eight days prior to an election. 
Post-Election Reports
Due 30 days after an election.
Year-end Reports
Due every January 20th.

Commonly filed forms filed by candidates:

M101* (all candidates, filed once)
M109 (candidates with no spending, can file once annually) or 
M102-0 (candidates with no spending, periodically thorugh the year- see above scheduled)
M102 (candidates, with or without committees, with spending)
M109 (candidates with no spending and none anticipated for the calendar year)

The Year-End Report

  • Due by the close of business, January 20th  
  • Ending date of the report is December 31st
  • All incumbents file the year-end report even if they did not appear on a ballot that year
  • A non-incumbent must file if he or she had any activity since the last report filed, a balance, or liabilities
  • A non-incumbent’s filing responsibilities end when their last report filed has zero cash and no liabilities
  • Filing notices can be emailed                                                                                                                                                                                     

            Limit Reminders

  • Raffles are prohibited
  • No anonymous contributions, including “passing the hat” for cash
  • Corporate, LLC, LLP and partnership contributions are prohibited to candidates
  • Public employees are prohibited from soliciting and receiving, and no soliciting or receiving in government buildings

Non-Filers

  • If a report is not filed, a notice to file within 10 days may be failed to the filer
  • If the report is not filed after 10 days, the filer can be referred to the Office of Campaign and Political Finance
  • Fines are $25 per day up to $5,000

Campaign Finance Reports
M.G.L. Chapter 55, Section 26 requires local election officials to post on the municipal website "all campaign finance reports required to be filed with the city or town clerk" if more than $1,000 in receipts, expenditures or liabilities are disclosed in a reporting period.
