Memorial Day Parade

Wayland's Memorial Day Parade will form at 10:30 am on Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Wayland Middle School, 201 Main Street.  The parade steps off at 11:00 am and will proceed along Route 27 to Route 30 to the Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.

Early Morning Ceremonies:

Brief tributes to veterans.

  • 8:30 am: Ceremony at St. Zepherin's Cemetery (Bent Avenue).
  • 8:50 am: Ceremony at WWII Memorial (Opposite the Villa).
  • 9:15 am: Ceremony at South Cemetery (Route 27 South).
  • 9:45 am: Ceremony at North Cemetery (Route 27 North).
  • 10:00 am: Ceremony at Beit Olam West Cemetery (Route 27 North).
  • 10:15 am: Ceremony at Wayland Veterans Memorial (Wayland Town Building).

Gettysburg Address:

Keynote Address:

  • Colonel Charles H. May, Military Deputy Director for U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center.

12:00 pm:

  • Flag Raising by Commander, American Legion Post 133 Wayland, and Grand Marshal.

Award Freedom Prize:

  • Richard P. Turner, Chair, Public Ceremonies Committee.

Musical Selection:

  • Patriotic Music, Joseph Oneschuk, Conductor.

12:30 pm:

Parade returns to the Wayland Middle School via Pemberton Road to West Plain Street.

Parade will be in two sections.  Plase see your Public Ceremonies Committee member for your groups line-up assignment.

Green Section:  Mr. John Dyer.

Yellow Section:  Mr. George Bernard.

In the event of rain, the service will be held in the Middle School Gymnasium at 11:00 am.   For confirmation, please call Richard Turner at (508) 358-4294 after 9:00 am on Monday, May 29, 2017.

NOTE:  The Council on Aging Van will depart the Wayland Town Building rear parking lot, at the rear door of the Senior Center, at 8:00 am for the early morning ceremonies and non-marching Veterans.  Additional non-marching Veterans may board at the parade staging area at the Middle School.
