Wayland Free Public Library

Established in 1848, the Wayland Free Public Library is one of the oldest taxpayer-supported libraries in the United States.  Its current building was constructed in 1900.

In addition to books and magazines, the Library offers a variety of media to lend, including DVDs, CDs, audiobooks on CD and Playaway, and ebooks and eaudiobooks.  We have public Wi-Fi and Internet terminals and printers, along with a photocopier and scanner.  Our Library of Things comprises Chromebooks, hotspots, digital converters, and DVD drives, as well as a sewing machine, film projector, metal detector, ukulele, laminator, and more.

Join us for ongoing art exhibits, author appearances, book clubs, craft programs, concerts, film screenings, and guest speakers on a wide variety of topics.  Many of these programs are available remotely.  We also sponsor an ESOL program that pairs volunteer tutors with learners.

Our Youth Services Department offers playgroups, book clubs, storytimes for various ages, and programs for art, music, summer reading, STEAM, and more.  YS librarians can provide reading suggestions, homework resources, or classroom materials.  The Teen Loft is an awesome place to study and hang, with graphic novels, test-prep guides, and the latest in fiction and non-fiction.
