Board of Assessors Public Disclosure Period Will Begin On October 30

Dear Wayland Property Owner(s):

The Board of Assessors (BoA) will complete the review of property values for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 by October 29, 2023. As a result, the Public Disclosure period will begin on October 30th and end November 3rd. Proposed assessed values, a detailed letter explaining the process, and relevant property sales used to determine values will be posted to the Town’s website on the Assessors’ Office page at https://www.wayland.ma.us/assessors-office. In accordance with state law, this is an estimation of the fair market value of a property as of January 1, 2023 (adjusted for ongoing construction to your property through June 30, 2023, if applicable). The basis of the assessments is actual sales during Calendar Year (CY) 2022, with salient features of those properties analyzed and then applied to all properties. Sale prices were robust during CY 2022, therefore, FY 2024 assessments reflect an increase in valuations. Depending on classification, in general, values increased between 8% to 15%.

At the end of the public review period, the Board of Assessors will submit documents to the Department of Revenue (DOR) for approval of assessed values for Fiscal Year 2024.
