Town Offices Piloting 4 Day Work Week Program

Town Manager Michael McCall announced today that the Town of Wayland will be piloting a 4 day work week for certain municipal employees. Starting on July 31, 2023, business hours for the Town Building and Department of Public Works building will change to accommodate the new schedule. The number of hours each employee works will not change. Town Building and the Department of Public Works building will be closed on Fridays, however the buildings will remain open for an additional 1 hour and thirty minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in addition to evening hours on Mondays.
 
The new hours will be as follows:
 
Town Offices 
Monday:       8:00 am – 7:00 pm 
Tuesday:       8:00 am – 5:30 pm 
Wednesday: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm 
Thursday:     8:00 am – 5:30 pm 
                           Friday:          Closed
 
DPW Main Office 
Monday:       8:00 am – 7:00 pm 
Tuesday:       7:30 am – 5:00 pm 
Wednesday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm 
Thursday:     7:30 am – 5:00 pm
                           Friday:          Closed
 
** NOTE - Start times for the Highway, Parks, Water and Transfer Station Division will vary. 
** NOTE - 4 day work week hours do not apply to Library or School Department employees.
 
Although offices will be closed to the public on Friday, Recreation Department and Council on Aging programs will be held as scheduled. The pilot program will run from July 31, 2023 Through September 1, 2023.
