Town Clerk Announces Improved Dog Registration Process

Wayland, MA – The Town Clerk’s Office is pleased to announce the introduction of a new dog registration procedure for the Town of Wayland.  The Town Clerk’s office will be transitioning to an online dog licensing software program titled “Stellar Dog License.”  The dog-licensing software was created by Stellar Corporation based in Lexington, MA who specialize in “unique IT products and custom software development.”  The software program will allow for a simplified dog owner registration procedure which dog-owners can complete on-line. 

Over the past few months, Town Clerk Trudy Reid has been working with Stellar Corporation to ensure the transfer all the dog current licensing information from the previous database to the new software based program.  All dog-owners on file will receive a notification letter from the Town Clerk’s Office sometime near December 1st, 2023.  In the letter, there will be an announcement of the new software program including the opening of dog registration for 2024.  In the meantime, if you would like to review the new program, it can be found at https://www.wayland.ma.us/town-clerk/pages/dog-licensing.

In addition to the dog licensing program, the Town Clerk’s Office announced that a new vendor will be handling requests vital records on line.  Unibank will now be the vendor who you will process the online requests for vital records.   To request vital records on line, please go to https://www.wayland.ma.us/town-clerk/pages/vital-records-information.  Please note, if you prefer to stop into the Town Clerk’s office to process your dog registration or to request a vital record in-person, counter service is always available.  Counter requests can only accept cash or check.

Town Clerk Trudy Reid stated, “It is my hope that the introduction of this software-based dog registration program will help to simplify what has been a bit of a difficult process.  We will continue to work towards identifying other areas of Town Clerk operations that have been historically challenging in an effort to simplify the procedures for the public and thus making them more user-friendly.”
