HRDEIC Statement on Antisemitic Graffiti

The Wayland Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (HRDEIC) fully supports Acting Police Chief Burman in condemning the hateful, antisemitic symbols that were painted on Rice Road on November 14, 2023. These symbols aim to spark fear and division in our community. We see and hear all those in Wayland who are fearful for their safety. Let us not allow the actions of one or two individuals to drive a wedge between people in our community. May all of us in Wayland have hearts compassionate enough to hold one another’s pain, eyes clear enough to recognize the humanity in others, even when we don’t see things the same way, and relationships strong enough to withstand the divisions in the world around us.
