Subject: Construction Notice - Route 20/Boston Post Road

The Town of Wayland is providing this notice relative to the Wastewater Main Project located on Route 20/Boston Post Road between Town Center and the Town Transfer Station. As many of you may have seen, the construction of Alta at River’s Edge is well underway and is on track to open its first of three buildings in mid to late 2022.  Work will now begin to connect the project with the Town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant located at Town Center.  This work will involve construction on and along parts of Route 20 and will impact travel on that section of road.

Work on Route 20 to provide Alta at River’s Edge with the necessary infrastructure will be in two phases. In the first phase the Town will lay down the necessary piping that will connect Alta at River’s Edge with the Town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.  In the second phase National Grid will lay down new utility pipes that will bring natural gas to the development.

The first phase of work is anticipated to start Sunday August 22 and last through September 30 which will require partial closure of the section of the road between River’s Edge and Town Center (see Map).  Work will take place at night between 9PM until 5AM.  1 lane will be open during work hours.  Both lanes will be open during the day.

The second phase will start soon after and last through mid-October.  Work will also take place at night between 9PM until 5AM.  1 lane will be open during work hours.  Both lanes will be open during the day.

The road closures have been coordinated with the Wayland Public Safety Departments.  The closures will expedite the completion time for the project, minimize disruption to traffic, and reduce the overall cost.  Additional information and updates on the construction schedule will be posted as they become available.
