Narcan (naloxone) is available at the Health Department free of charge when the Town Building is open because the Health Department is part of the Community Naloxone Program (CNP). The goal of the CNP is to prevent death from opioid overdose by increasing distribution of free naloxone to community bystanders across Massachusetts. The public is encouraged to attend free public training sessions and/or drop by to pick up Narcan anytime we are open, no questions asked. Read the Substance Use Recovery Resources below for additional information.   • MOAR Recovery (Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery) - A community of people in addiction recovery, who support a continuum of care that is inclusive of peer recovery support services.

  • The Good Samaritan Law in Massachusetts - This law encourages someone who witnesses an overdose to seek help from professionals by providing the caller, and the person who overdosed, protection from arrest and prosecution for drug possession. The goal is to protect people so they are not afraid to involve emergency services as soon as possible.
